ATAHUALPA, JUNE 4, 2005

We began our expedition at 5:00 am, and drove to the small village of Atahualpa. Atahualpa is a beautiful village tucked in the Andes Mountains two hours north of Quito. We set up our clinic at a small church facility and after breakfast we opened the clinic to patients. There was a steady stream of patients all day long. The clinic lasted from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm with a break for lunch. At our clinic there were three dentists, a general medicine doctor, a pediatrician, and six CAF volunteers. Over the course of the day our team saw 209 patients total, 142 of which were medical patients and 67 patients for dental. There were 113 dental procedures performed which resulted in 255 total procedures.
