During June 5th and 6th 2008; Charity Anywhere Ecuador scheduled to provide free medical and dental clinics to the orphan population of Davis Foundation. This service project was leaded by Dr. Washington Zambrano DDS and the participants of this mission were: Dr. Alberto Vargas (Medical Epidemiologist); Dr. Gloria Polo (Specialist on Internal Medicine); Dr. Ximena Tapia DDS; Dr. Kenneth Kovanda (DDS/Oral Surgeon) originally from California, USA;; Ms. Marianela Ruiz (Dental Assistant); Juan F Zambrano (Translator); Eng. Julio Zambrano (sterilizer); Mr. Carlos Celin (technician); and a group of students from 4th year from Glasgow Dental School: Kirsty Mackenzie, Katie Morrison, Kerry Size, Nicole Burns, Jessica Catherine Copsey, Joanne Elizabeth Boyd, Sarah Constance Devanny and Julie Anne Gibson. The Davis Foundation takes care of orphan children for over 40 years now in Ecuador. This organization has raised children that otherwise could have become people of very bad influence for the Ecuadorian society. Most of those who once lived at the Davis Foundation orphanage are now excellent parents, professionals, and citizens. The Davis Foundation hosts up to 150 children giving them loving care and attention that helps modify their sad background into a very nice lifestyle and good manners. At this orphanage is noticeable an environment of pulchritude, solidarity and love within tutors and the orphans. This totally benefits the behaviour of those resident orphans there; but mostly they learn with more intensity family and moral values. Once again we could share the magnificent experience of serving needy people; not only as a group of professionals but also as human beings. The medical consult showed us that orphans were in very good conditions. Intestinal Parasites and Common Cold were the only two common illnesses within this medical population. This chart shows the consult according to Age and Gender: |

Once we finished this humanitarian mission we all went home with a filling of thankfulness to know how blessed we are of being born of goodly parents; and what a great blessing represents for orphan children to count with organizations like Davis Foundation or Charity Anywhere that absolutely are concern about their future. |

The NGO Charity Anywhere presided by Washington Zambrano in Ecuador; went to the Quito valley of Cumbayá to give support to the local Rotary Club of that area. This mission counted with the following volunteers: Dr. Ximena Tapia DDS, Eng. Julio Zambrano (Sterilization); Mr. Carlos Celín (Technician); Juan Zambrano (Translator); Dr. Keneth Kovanda DDS (Oral Surgen); and a group of dental students of the Glasgow Dental School: Kirsty Mackensie, Katie Morrison, Kerry Size, Nicole Bunrs, Jessica Catherin Copsey, Joanne Elizabeth Boyd, Sarah Constante Devanny and Julie Anne Gibson. Our patients´ age ranged within 2-5 year olds; owed to the fact that they were Nursery or Kinder garden age-students. The teachers and tutors of these educative institutions joined their students to their dental revision as well as some parents with some of their relatives.
