ATUCUCHO - ECUADOR, AUGUST 13, 2008

The capital city of Ecuador- Quito; holds several poor neighborhoods in all of its geographical extension. One of these areas is called Atucucho; only 40 minutes away from the Quito-Charity Anywhere headquarters. Initially started as an area where extremely poor families moved there to earn a piece of land even f they had invade them. Most of these families have legalized their situation with the Municipal Government of Quito in order to legally own a piece of land there in Atucucho. Most of the buildings here have basic infrastructure and services; and also a medical dispensary, property of the Ecuadorian Government-Ministry of Public Health. Although Atucucho is literately underneath of the Rucu-Pichincha volcano (translation: Ancient-Pichincha); the local families live aware and conscious of a potential natural disaster-if that was the case. Nowadays, it is pretty normal to find various social organizations, cooperatives, or NGOS working in Atucucho for the development of living conditions of its residents.
Medical Report
Dr. Monica Arroyo (Family Practitioner/Pediatrician); who now works for the Charity Anywhere Medical Center had previously worked in Atucucho to fulfill a graduation requirement all nearly graduated students have to deal with the Ecuadorian Government. Dr. Arroyo prepared the Atucucho communitarian house to hold there our mobile dental stations; and two offices for the physicians who were able to go with us. Under the direction of Dr. Washington Zambrano DDS (Charity Anywhere Ecuador Legal Representative); a group of volunteers and professionals went to Atucucho that morning. The physicians were: Dr. Monica Arroyo (Family Practitioner/Pediatrician); Dr. Alberto Vargas (Family Practitioner/Epidemiologist). The Dental team was made of: Dr. Isabel Zambrano DDS/ Pediatrician; Dr. Elena Gutierrez DDS/Endo-dontist; Eng. Julio Zambrano-Sterilization; Eng. QUITO - ECUADOR, AUGUST 19, 2008

Quito, the capital city of Ecuador is distributed on at least 19 districts; where the population can geographically be sort out. One of the most traditional areas in Quito is the district of “San Blas”. It is practically where the old part of town starts; and consequently is very pretty and fairly visited by either locals or foreigners. This part of town used to be traditional in the mean that political concentrations or manifestations would take out from there towards the Governmental Palace few miles away from there. Thank goodness the passing of years can also change old customs like the one mentioned above. The district of San Blas went into an extreme make over where its parks and plazas now look completely restored and recovered. This transitioning process of who it used to look the centric part of Quito into of what it looks now responds to the visionary and responsible administration of the Municipal Government of Quito. Our team of professionals and volunteers visited the Vargas home-ward building; another unit that belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The membership of this homeward was supposed to be assisted and also the local community in general.  Our participants worked again under the supervision of Dr. Washington Zambrano DDS (Charity Anywhere Legal Representative).

On this manner our service project came to its end. Definitely where the population can easily find available descent infrastructure; the chances to deal with serious illnesses greatly reduce. In any case, we also found needy and poor families on this LDS Home Ward Building there in the district of San Blas.
