It is very alike that the rough whether then had to be with high number of cases of respiratory sicknesses there. Pharynx infections and swallows were common to see on patients that also suffered of gastritis or dyspepsia disease. This group of patients reached a 23% out of our total amount of medical consults. A 10% of our patients suffered of high blood pressure, one patient had Epilepsy and the rest of patients on a 54% were diagnosed multi parasite infection. GALAPAGOS ISLANDS - ECUADOR, NOVEMBER 29 - DECEMBER 6, 2008

Some of the volunteers and staff of Charity Anywhere Foundation-Ecuador leaded by Dr. Washington Zambrano had a chance to offer again Humanitarian Aid at the Galapagos Islands by giving Dental and Ophthalmic procedures for free to the local population. The facility used this time was the city-hospital of Puerto Ayora called: “Republic of Ecuador”. We counted on this occasion with the very valuable help of Dr. Luis Grau Jr. (Family Physician), Dr. L. Carlos Grau Sr. (Ophthalmologist) and Pamela Sanchez (Assistant). A total of 64 people were given an ophthalmic consult, and 24 surgeries of Recidivant Pterygium. The dental participants for this mission were: Dr. Isabel Zambrano (Oral Pediatrician), Dr. Carla Arias (Endodontic), Dr. Ximena Tapia DDS, Dr. Washington Zambrano (Oral Surgeon), Dr. Douglas Todd (Oral Surgeon) along to his CDA Janet Todd, the dental student Natalie Arias and the equipment technician Carlos Celin. For this mission we also counted with the valuable support of some American volunteers of Charity Anywhere who will be mentioned at next: Aimee Hickey, Melisa Todd, Nathan Mc Pherron, Allison Clissold, Caitlin Morgan, Kristen Murria, Caitlin Barrer, Alyse Hair, Gifford Hickey, Elizabeth Lewis, Sarah Crookston, Brennan Powel, David Caine, Blake Carter and Teryn Mendenhall. They all helped assisting in both of our clinics of Ophthalmology and Dentistry. They also helped painting 3 schools in the outside part of Puerto Ayora, at the county of Santa Rosa. It was distributed hygiene kits to institutions and to our patients who went to our clinics. It’s important to mention that third-molar surgeries were done as much as some Epulis surgeries too.
